Course Description: Comparative Mythologies is a Thematic Literature course for those who want to explore the various origins of humanity and its future. By focusing on universal patterns, students will observe similar aspects of Egyptian, Greek, Norse, Mayan, and various other mythologies. Students will track these patterns across time to relate them to the individual’s quest for identity. The course will also focus specifically on recurring themes in myth, including heroism, villainy, war, love, and death. Students will also study modern myths found in various areas of popular culture such as comic books, television, and film.
